A Senate Maverick Acts to Force an Issue

Amen! A Senate Maverick Acts to Force an Issue

  • FISA courts will allow a warrant up to 72 hours after a name is requested for filtering by the NSA.
  • A warrant for a wiretap issued by the FISA courst is completely secret. Not even the wife of the judge listens in on the briefings if they're being conducted in his living room, which they often are.

Why? Why, why, why, why, why would the president need to circumvent these courts? That's the question they're not answering. Gonzales and everyone else will go up in front of Congressional hearings to argue over the legality of wiretapping without even a secret warrant, but I have yet to hear a coherent, worthwhile explanation as to why such an action would be necessary. Hook it up.
